报告人介绍：

Jamal A. Malik obtained his B.A. in Chemistry from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota (US), where he did total synthesis research under Prof. Rebecca Hoye. He then completed his PhD at Scripps Research in La Jolla, California (US), studying rhodium and copper catalysis in Prof. Valery V. Fokin’s laboratory. His postdoctoral research at MPIKG in Potsdam (Germany) with Prof. Peter Seeberger focused on nickel photocatalysis. He has worked at Nature Communications as an editor since 2021, handling organic chemistry.

报告摘要：

While publishing one’s findings is an essential part of science, many researchers understandably find the process opaque or unclear. This talk will aim to provide some context from the perspective of an editor at Nature Communications. It will include an overview of the Nature Portfolio journals, and where Nature Communications falls within this portfolio. Dr Malik will then discuss the journal’s editorial process, hoping to provide some insight into editorial decision-making. Last, he will offer explanations of some of Nature Communications policies that are offered or mandated. He will be happy to answer any questions afterwards. This lecture will aim to be relevant to all stages of a scientific career.
